WARC Travel Grant 2018
The WARC Travel Grant 2018 is an initiative of the West African research center to promote scholarly exchange on topics that borders on Africa and the world at large. This grant covers all travels from 1st December 2018 and 30th June 2019. This travel grant allows African scholars to travel from their research institutions in order to visit other research institutions on the continent for the sole purpose of fostering cooperation and improvement among African scholars. The WARC travel grant 2018 provides a travel cost of up to $1,500.
WARC Travel Grant 2018 Coverage
This grant covers the following travel expeditions of the applicant:
- Attend and present academic papers at conferences that are relevant to the applicant’s field of research
- Visit archives or libraries for information needed for the applicant’s academic work
- Perform joint research with colleagues at another institution
- Visit research sites that are relevant to his/her current academic work
WARC Travel Grant 2018 Eligibility
To be eligible for this grant, the applicant must:
- Be of West African origin
- Preferences will to given to applicant with affiliation to West African colleges, research institutions, or universities.
- All disciplines are welcome
WARC Travel Grant 2018 Requirements
For the purpose of this grant, all successful applicants must be able to:
- Make public presentations on their research to their academic institutions and local communities
- They must also submit a copy of their thesis, article, dissertations and other publications that arose through researches that were funded by this grant.
WARC Travel Grant 2018 Application
All applications will be submitted online and all required documents must be uploaded in either pdf, word, or jpg as others will not be considered.
All documents needed include the following:
- A brief abstract of the activity to be funded, containing a concise statement of purpose and must be between 50-80 words.
- A brief description of the applicant’s research and how the travel is relevant to this research. It must not be more than 6 pages.
- A proposed budget for the research
- A curriculum vitae with research and teaching record included
- If attending a conference, a letter of acceptance from the conference must be presented
- If visiting another institution, an invitation from the host institution must be presented
- For graduate students, a letter of recommendation from the professor overseeing their research must be presented
- Proof of citizenship (photocopy of passport)
All applicants must note that this grant is only for West African nationals that are eligible for non-immigrant visas to the United States of America.
