Phyno whose full name is Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike is a Nigerian rapper, singer songwriter and record producer. He is best known and loved for his ability to rap in the Igbo language.
Background
Phyno was born the 9th of October, 1986 in Enugu State as the fourth of fifth children. He hails from Anambra State but was raised in Enugu. He studied Public Administration at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu.
Music Career
Phyno first started his career in the entertainment industry with record producing. He had worked with established artists like Flavour, Timaya, Ruggedman, Bracket, 2Shotz, J Martins and Mr Raw. He started recording his own songs in 2010 when he relocated to Lagos to start off his solo career in rap music.
He released his debut studio album No Guts No Glory in 2014. The album which was a huge commercial success featured guest appearances from other stars like Omawumi, Olamide, P-Square, Flavour, M.i, Ice Prince and Runtown.
The album was supported by top charting singles like Ghost Mode featuring Olamide, Man of the Year (Obago), Alobam and Parcel. The video for Man of the Year was sadly banned from being aired by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation in 2013.
Phyno became the ambassador for Guiness in 2014 and participated in the Made of Black campaign alongside Olamide and Eva Alordiah.
Phyno was signed to Sputnet Records but later switched to his own label- Penthauze Music.
He released his second album 2 Kings in 2015. The album was a collaborative album with another rap star Olamide.
