The Ghana Immigration Service started the Immigration and Passport Unit of the Gold Coast Colonial Police Force under the command of Mr. Nevile C. Hill. On attainment of independence in 1957, the rapid expansion of the economy coupled with Ghana’s role as a trailblazer in the African liberation struggle led to the country being swamped with foreign businessmen, tourists, and African aliens.
To control this influx, a Cabinet decision in 1960 transferred the Immigration Unit to the Ministry of the Interior as a separate department, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took over the issuing of passports. These measures were taken to enhance service delivery. Three (3) years later, the aliens Act 1963, Act 160 was enacted to give legal backing to immigration operations.
Ghana Immigration Service Recruitment Entry Requirements.
GRADUATE ENTRY
All Graduate candidates are to meet the following requirements:
Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth with no criminal record.
Must have completed his/her National Service.
Must possess a first Degree not below a Second Class Lower in Social Must be of good character.
Sciences/Humanities from an accredited University.
Must be of a minimum age of 21 and not more than 28 years by 31st December, 2016.
Must be physically and medically fit.
Must be computer Literate.
Must not be bonded.
Must have a minimum height of 1.73metres (5ft 8inch) for Males and 1.63 metres (5ft 4inch) for Female.
Have Five/5 Credits in subjects (Not less than grade 6) at BECE including English and a Pass in Mathematics. • Have Five/5 Credits in subjects (Not less than grade C6) at SSSCE/WASSCE including English and a Pass in Mathematics.
NON-GRADUATE ENTRY
All Recruits candidates are to satisfy the following requirements:
Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth with no criminal record.
Must hold SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate with Five (5) credits including English Language and a pass in Mathematics.
Must be of a minimum age of 18 and not more than 26 years by 31st December, 2016.
Must be physically and medically fit.
Must be of good character.
Must not be bonded.
Must have a minimum height of 1.73metres (5ft 8inch) for Males and 1.63 metres (5ft 4inch) for Female.
How to Apply for Ghana Immigration Service Recruitment 2018/2019

- Select preferred branch and enter your Bio and Educational data and upload a passport sized picture of dimension (200×180) pixels before submitting.
- Print out a copy of the application summary report, which contains details of your Applicant Identification (ID Number) and other relevant data.
