Application For Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Taiwan Fellowship 2019 for Researchers (Funding available)
The Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.
The fellows will be given the opportunity to perform research in universities and education institutes in Taiwan. The application period commences from May and is open through the month of June—the recipients of the fellowship will be able to commence the research from January next year.
Benefits
- The fellowship recipients will be awarded financial assistance in the form of monthly grants that will be given in the beginning of every month.
- For professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows the grant amount is NT$60,000.
- For assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates the grant awarded is NT$50,000.
- The fellowship recipient will also be awarded one round-trip, economy-class ticket to Taiwan (the subsidy for which will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant regulations)
- The fellows will also be awarded with an accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) with a coverage of over NT$1 million.

Eligibility
- Open to foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or are research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad;
- The field of study must be Humanities and Social Science;
- The research should further focus upon a topic related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, the Asia Pacific, and Sinology.
How To Apply For Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Taiwan Fellowship 2019
The applicants first need to fill an online application form after which they will need to submit required documents (Application form, resume, research proposal and letter of recommendation) to the ROC Embassy or Representative Office in or nearest to their country of residence.

The evaluation procedure requires the ROC to verify assess the application after which a recommendation is made to the evaluation committee. The fellows are selected based on the results of this evaluation after which they are required to submit to MOFA a “Letter of Consent for Research” from one or more universities or academic institutions in Taiwan, thereby completing the Fellowship application process.
