Background
Ini Edo who is Ibibio by tribe was born on the 23rd of April, 1982 in Calabar. She was brought up by strict parents; her mother was a teacher and her father a church elder. She was the second of four children. For her secondary school she went to Cornelius Connely College, Calabar and for university she went to the University of Calabar where she got a degree in English.
Acting Career
Ini Edo started off her career in acting soon after graduation from the university in 2000. She kept on going for auditions but only got a movie role in 2003 when she appeared in the movie Thick Madam. She got her big break in the movie industry in 2004 when she starred in the movie World Apart. Her performance in the movie put her out as a professional good enough to interpret any role. She has since gone on to star in over 100 movies and has solidified her position as a high profile actress in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Ini Edo was made a brand ambassador for Mike Adenuga’s Telecom company- Globacom in 2006. The endorsement deal ran for 10 years, the deal ended in 2016. She was also made a brand ambassador for Noble Hair and for SlimTea Nigeria. She became a judge for the Miss Black Africa Uk Pageant in 2013.
She also holds a political office in her state. She was appointed as The Special Assistant To The Akwa Ibom State Governor on Culture And Tourism by Udom Gabriel Emmanuel in 2016. She was also made a United Nations Habitat Youth Envoy by the United Nations.
